Home Away From Home
Home Away From Home

Honour House is a refuge, a “home away from home” for members of our Canadian Armed Forces, Veterans, Emergency Services Personnel and their families to stay, completely free of charge, while they are receiving medical care and treatment in the Metro Vancouver area.

These brave individuals, along with their families, sacrifice so much on a daily basis to protect our freedom and our everyday way of life. Honour House allows us the opportunity to show them that we care and how much we appreciate all that they do for us.

“Our heroes run towards danger each and every day to protect us and the ones we love. Honour House is here for them when they need help, because sometimes, even heroes need a home.” – Allan De Genova (President)

To finish up National Volunteer Week, we are ending it with a very important member of the Honour House Family. Our Sr. Volunteer, Rob, has been Volunteering at the House for 10 years. Amassing over 4000 hours patrolling the hallways at the House, Rob has conducted 300 (exactly) guest greetings. On top of countless volunteer orientations.Rob enjoys overseeing the vast amount of laundry generated and keeping the kitchen in tip-top shape. Believe staff when they say that they know who the real boss around here is.In 2019 Rob was deservedly awarded the Sovereign's Medal for Volunteers by Queen Elizabeth II, by way of the Governor General. Thank you for everything you do at Honour House, Rob! ... See MoreSee Less

A very big thank you, through this National Volunteer Week, to all of our Volunteers at the Honour House Society. From creating policy to cleaning rooms and scrubbing toilets. To keeping Honour Ranch in beautiful shape. Our volunteer crews are the lifeblood of our Society. We would not be in the position to help first responders and military personnel without them. We rely on volunteers to greet guests and train new volunteers. It's a beautiful cycle and we are reliant on to continue the work that we do. To all of our volunteers, including board members, House and garden cleaners and our dedicated Ranch crew, thank you to everyone who has ever volunteered here with the Honour House Society. We need you more than ever.If you are considering a career of service or currently working/retired and looking to give back to the many communities who keep our country safe, please reach out! ...
